Delneri ready for Inter fight

Juventus manager Luigi Delneri is confident his side are up to the task of beating Inter Milan when the two sides clash in Serie A on Sunday.

Juve are in eighth place, six points in arrears of third-placed Inter, and Delneri said his side’s recent form would leave them in good stead to face Leonardo’s men at the Stadio Olimpico.

“This is going to be an important match. We’ll be playing against a team which is doing very well and also has achieved good results from a psychological point of view,” Delneri said on Saturday.

“I believe that putting in a good performance and proving that we are competitive at this level will give us great incentives and confidence for this title race.”

“No doubt that this is going to be a difficult match, but it is an important one. That means Juventus will be playing at our best. Seeing the performance that the team put in against Palermo and Cagliari, I think that we can perform just as well here too.”

Leonardo said he was aware of the rich history between the two teams as he prepared to manage in his first Derby d’Italia.

“I think anything I could say about Juventus-Inter has already been said,” he said.

“This fixture is part of a long history and rivalry. I expect a battle and when there’s a battle, Inter can be counted on of that I am sure. We’ve never looked for a result that wasn’t a victory and we’ll do the same tomorrow night.”

“Not just for me, but all of Inter, this game represents enormous motivation. It’s one of the biggest tests of the season.”
